This year marks the 25th anniversary of the assassination of Mrs. Gandhi.  1984 was a momentous year in India in other ways as well - the Bhopal gas tragedy, the worst industrial accident ever, occured.  Rakesh Sharma became the first Indian in space and Bachendri Pal  became the first Indian woman on Everest.
